Hello! My name is Erika Ornelas and I'm excited to serve as one of the counselors here at City Heights Prep Charter. I'm thrilled to be part of this amazing diverse community! I was born in Whittier, California and grew up in the Los Angeles area. I have worked as a counselor for 20 years at the elementary, middle, high school and community college level. I love helping students grow academically, socially, and emotionally. I attended the University of California, San Diego and earned my Bachelors of Science in Sociology. A couple years later I attended California State University, Los Angeles where I earned my Masters in Counseling with an emphasis in School Counseling and Leadership. Seven years ago I had the opportunity to move back to San Diego and I've loved every minute of exploring this wonderful city!
City Heights Prep represents so many beautiful cultures and it is an honor to be part of this amazing team. I am here to guide and support students and families, while focusing on helping students set short and long term goals and ultimately seeing them contribute to our society. Outside of being a counselor, I enjoy spending time with my husband, two children, and our dog Bella. I love traveling the world, trying new foods, exploring nature, and spending time with family and friends.
